Real Madrid put Celtic to the sword in the Hoops' final Champions League match of the season with a 5-1 rout of the Scottish champions.
Ange Postecoglou's side already knew they were heading out of Europe in Group F's last place after failing to win any of their first five matches in the section that also included RB Leipzig and Shakhtar Donetsk. A trip to the trophy holders started in the worst possible fashion when Luka Modric converted a penalty off a Moritz Jenz handball. Then another from Matt O'Riley following a VAR check allowed Rodrygo to double their advantage from 12 yards
It was then the away side's turn to get a penalty after Liel Abada was fouled in the box but Josip Juranovic was unable to covert his brilliant chance. It soon got worse after half-time as Marco Asensio, Vinicius JR and Federico Valverde goals made sure this stint on the continent ended in a rout for the Glasgow side, but Jota scored a free-kick to remember as a consolation. Postecoglou's men end this section on two points and now turn their attentions to retaining the Premiership title. Here is how we rated the Celtic players in the Spanish capital.

Joe Hart - 5
Fighting against the tide for much of the game. Helpless at the two penalties and did his best to keep the scoreline down.
Josip Juranovic - 4
Tough shift against Vinicius. The Brazilian got away from him on a few occasions and then missed a crucial spot-kick. Ran ragged after half-time.
Carl Starfelt - 5
Talk about out of the frying pan and into the frying pan. Returned from an injury lay-off to take on the champions of Europe, and unfortunately this isn't a game to get up to speed in. Tried to build play from the back and made a couple decent blocks but beat easily for one of the goals.
Moritz Jenz - 5
Gave away the first penalty and was left beat on a few occasions by the quick feet of Madrid's forward line. Left to watch the levels in class at times.
Greg Taylor - 6
Did well to slow the hosts down in the first half but soon looked tired as the reinforcements came in the form of fully-fledged internationals. Beat all ends up for the fourth.
Aaron Mooy - 5
A test for him to keep up with the pace the European kings play at. Tiring shift and eventually it showed as midfielder were offered more time on the ball.
Matt O'Riley - 5
Handball for the second penalty ultimately gave up the game as a competitive contest. That could have been deemed harsh but then ran the risk of another booking after his initial yellow and perhaps could have shut Asensio down quicker at his goal.
Reo Hatate - 6
Tested Thibaut Courtois with a shot from range. Hurried a couple passed in midfield but always looked to be positive. Took on more responsibility as Mooy tired and O'Riley walked his fine line.
Liel Abada - 7
Won a penalty in the first half and caused the defence plenty of issues. Few crosses could have been converted on another night but could have had a tap-in at the backpost had he been more forceful in the first half.
Daizen Maeda - 6
Plenty of endeavour from the World Cup-bound forward. Almost scored a bizarre deflected effort early doors but end product proved ineffective.
Kyogo Furuhashi - 5
Hasn't happened for him in the group stages. Getting in the right areas but his golden chances were not hit with any conviction that you need at this level.
Giorgos Giakoumakis - 4
Had a great chance to score shortly after coming off the bench.
Jota - 7
Continued injury comeback with an appearance at the Bernabeu that he won't forget. A free-kick worthy of the venue it was scored in.
Sead Haksabanovic - 4
A willing runner with his sub appearance. Had the nous to drop into areas where needed.
David Turnbull - 4
Another who was afford the chance to play in one of the world's famous stadiums but a quiet showing from the midfielder.
Oliver Abildgaard - 3
Another late cameo for the Dane.
