Celtic player ratings as disappointing night ends in Champions League thrashing

Joe Hart 5

The goalkeeper had an up-and-down game as his poor punch of the ball from an early corner played a significant role in Antoine Griezmann's opener. However, he did make several good saves.

Alistair Johnston 4

It was a fixture in which the Canada international looked out of his depth at times. He was unable to provide a solid attacking outlet going forward and was beaten far too easily one-on-one against Rodrigo Riquelme. The right-back was also caught goal side for the host's second goal.

Cameron Carter-Vickers 5

He made some good blocks in the first half and could not be faulted for any of the goals.

Liam Scales 5

Another European game in which he did not do a lot wrong individually. His passing was solid enough and he did okay up against the opposition forwards, albeit not as well as the match at Parkhead.

Greg Taylor 4

The Scotland international struggled to get much of a foothold in this fixture. Like Johnston on the right-hand side, he struggled against his opposing winger which allowed plenty of crosses to be put into the Celtic box.

Callum McGregor 4

It was a disappointing evening for the captain as he was non-existent at times. The 30-year-old was beaten far too easily to the ball on a number of occasions and when he had it, he was unable to hold onto it. His failure to clear his lines also played a role in the first goal.

Matt O'Riley 4

He put in probably his poorest performance of the season so far. After being player of the match in the previous fixture the Dane was unable to make any sort of impact.

Paulo Bernardo 5

A match that seemed to pass the Benfica loanee by, he struggled to hold on to the ball and was part of a midfield that was played through far too easily.

Luis Palma 4

The Honduran winger dipped out of the game after being booked and was subbed at half time.

Kyogo Furuhashi 5

It was a fixture in which he was very quiet. The forward received little to no service.

Daizen Maeda 3

A game which he started brightly was ended prematurely after he was sent off for challenge early in the first half.

Substitutes

Oh Hyeon-gyu (for Palma, 45) 5

The striker worked hard but found it difficult.

Odin Thiago Holm (for O'Riley, 45) 4

It was a game in which he spent majority of time chasing the ball.

David Turnbull (for Bernardo, 62) 4

He did not make much of an impact.

Yang Hyun-jun (for Kyogo, 62) 4

He tried to get forward but had no support at the top end of the pitch.

Tomoki Iwata (for McGregor, 71) 3

There was little involvement from the midfielder.
