VAR technology has been tested out at Celtic Park ahead of its introduction into Scottish Football.
The big screens at Parkhead have been spotted broadcasting the type of messages fans will soon see on a weekly basis in the east end of Glasgow and at grounds across the country. VAR is set to come into force next Friday when Hibs face St Johnstone at Easter Road on Friday night. The Edinburgh club are in town today to face up to Celtic in a Premiership clash between the league leaders and the side sitting third. The Hoops first league game with VAR will be the next day when they travel to Hearts.
Pictures taken ahead of the match v Hibs show the Celtic Park screens lit up with displays. One message board has a red background with “VAR” displayed and another picture shows the message board with a black background with “VAR complete” displayed. Officials have also been spotted viewing monitors which are next to the Parkhead tunnel.

The Parkhead faithful will already be used to seeing such messages with VAR in operation during Champions League games.
Ange Postecoglu’s side were on the right side of two huge VAR decisions in their Champions League away defeat to RB Leipzig, when two goals were disallowed. The Hoops first league game with VAR.
Celtic are without Jota again as they face Lee Johnson’s in-form Hibs side. David Turnbull and Stephen Welsh are also on the list of casualties.
The Hoops can extend the gap at the top over arch rivals Rangers to five points.
