Celtic or Rangers poser puts Chris Sutton and Ally McCoist at loggerheads as heated debate descends into hysterics

Chris Sutton and Ally McCoist unsurprisingly couldn't agree on whether Celtic or Rangers had the better season.

The pundits clashed over who could walk away from the campaign most satisfied after both teams won silverware.

Celtic won the Premiership and Premier Sports Cup while Rangers claimed the Scottish Cup and earned a place in the Europa League Final, where they lost on penalties to Eintracht Frankfurt.

McCoist was adamant getting to a European final, en-route to which they beat the likes of Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig, trumps all else and couldn't believe when Sutton didn't agree.

McCoist said on BT Sport Scottish Football Extra: "Absolutely no requirement to finish the question because, without doubt, you would take a European final and a domestic cup. Sutton's going to agree with me, he must agree with me!

"It's virtually impossible to reach a European final now for a Scottish club."

Sutton, though, wasn't having his co-pundit's stance on what constitutes a bigger achievement.

The Celtic legend said: "I enjoy the hypotheticals on this show and once again we've come up with one of the most pointless hypothetical questions of all time! I would rather win two medals than one..."

Then erupted a ding-dong between Sutton and presenter Darrell Currie, who was suggested the former striker was putting Celtic's own Seville adventure in the shade - joking that Sutton was still dining out on the 2003 UEFA Cup Final to this day.

A flabbergasted Sutton asked: "How dare you?!" And that left McCoist in stitches.

He laughed: "I've never seen a man get so upset at a supposedly hypothetical question in my puff!"

Sutton, though, was determined to have the last word as he aimed a rather sarcastic jibe and McCoist and the Rangers fans who travelled to Seville.

Sutton said: "Listen, don't take it out on me because Rangers didn't get over the line in Seville.

"Don't take it out on me that Rangers took *five million* fans to Seville, don't take it out on me!"
