Celtic No1 Joe Hart has 'tons of ability' and YEARS ahead of him in game says Shay Given

Shay Given believes Joe Hart has many years ahead of him and can play into his FORTIES.

The Republic of Ireland legend called time on his career at 41 and with the Celtic No1 just 35 - he knows there is plenty of life in the former England international yet. The shot-stopper has been hailed for his professionalism and dedication with Given in no doubt he will want to play week in, week out for as long as he possibly can.

Ange Postecoglou moved to bring the veteran to Parkhead after a few years in the wilderness at the likes of West Ham, Burnley and Spurs. But he has proved an inspired signing for the Aussie boss and installed himself as a real fans' favourite in Glasgow. Given - who turned out for Celtic Legends in a charity clash with Liverpool - believes his good pal Hart looks right at home and has no doubt just how big a role he will play in the dressing room with the east end side looking to land a domestic Treble this campaign.

He told the Daily Express: "I've known Joe for a number of years. I played against him a lot and we were team-mates at Man City.

“He was the No.1 but Pep Guardiola eventually didn’t fancy him. It was the same for me when Roberto Mancini didn’t fancy me.

“It happens in football and Joe had to go away and rebuild a little bit.

“He went to West Ham and had a few moves but things didn’t quite work out for him so it’s nice to see him really settled in Glasgow. He looks right at home now.

“Joe has tons of ability but he brings that experience and knowledge to the team as well. I’ve got no doubt he’s a massive presence in the dressing room.”

He continued: “I played to 41 and there’s no reason why Joe can’t do the same. He’s only a youngster at 35.

“Knowing Joe, he’s so professional and he’s extremely dedicated. He works really hard in the gym and looks after himself.

“It’s clear he’s really enjoying himself at Celtic and he’ll feel the same way we all did, and want to play as long as he can because you are a long time retired.

“It’s things like the game on Saturday when you see all those Celtic fans behind the goal that remind you what you are missing.

“But when you look at his performances this season there’s no need for him to even think about retiring any time soon.”
