Celtic No1 Joe Hart delivers two word response to Aaron Mooy retirement decision

Joe Hart has reacted to Aaron Mooy's decision to call time on his career with two words.

The midfielder has decided to retire from professional football with both Celtic and Australia with immediate effect. The Aussie played a key role for Ange Postecoglou last season in the domestic Treble triumph making 42 appearances in all competitions and contributing with seven goals and 11 assists across the campaign.

The 32-year-old also featured in the Champions League group stage last term including appearances against European heavyweight Real Madrid. Across his 15 year career he turned out for the likes of Brighton, Huddersfield Town, Melbourne City and St Mirren while he also won 57 caps for his country and played in a World Cup finals.

On his decision to hang up his boots, he said: “While it feels really sad to be leaving the game, I just feel the time is right for me. I have been so fortunate to enjoy such a great career across the last 15 years, creating some fantastic memories.

"'I am delighted to finish my career on such a high with Celtic and I would like to thank all the fans for the great support they gave me during the past year - I was delighted to be part of such a memorable season.

“I hope Celtic continue to dominate the game and I wish Brendan, the new manager great success with the great group of lads at the club.”

Celtic paid tribute on social media with an Instagram post reading: "#Celticfc midfielder & Australian international Aaron Mooy today announced his intention to retire from football with immediate effect.

"Aaron played a crucial role in our recent record-breaking Treble & we wish him the best for the future. Thank you, Aaron Mooy."

A host of Celtic players past and present liked the post including Mikael Lustig, Josip Juranovic, Shane Duffy, Matt O'Rley and Kyogo Furuhash i. No1 Joe Hart followed suit but also left a two word comment for his colleague. It simply read: "Fair play @aaronmooy" alongside a clapping hands and four leaf clover emoji.
