Celtic next manager odds latest as Brendan Rodgers favourite for shock return to Parkhead

Brendan Rodgers is the new favourite to land the Celtic job if Ange Postecoglou leaves.

The current Hoops gaffer looks poised to join Tottenham with reports this morning stating a 'verbal agreement' had been reached with contract details to make the move to the English Premier League revealed. The 57-year-old has had a stunning two years in Glasgow and ended the season with a historic Treble after victory over Inverness in the Scottish Cup Final at Hampden.

It was a special moment for all involved including the boss, who grabbed the one trophy that escaped his clutches last term. It means he has won five trophies out of six since his arrival in Scotland and it looks like that will be his medal haul complete with it increasingly likely a move south of the border could be confirmed in the coming days.

He's had a major impact at Parkhead in the way his side sets up and plays and also in the transfer market with his eye for a player proving hugely successful for Celtic in the last couple of transfer windows.

Talk will shift to who comes in to fill the big shoes that Postecoglou will leave and it is a former boss who leads the betting market. Rodgers knows what it takes at Celtic having tasted glory of his own during his time at the club before leaving for Leicester City.

His departure left a sour taste in the mouths of the Hoops faithful and it remains to be seen what kind of reaction the support would give if a return for the former Liverpool boss was to materialise.

Betfair now have Rodgers as the leading candidate for a dramatic return to Glasgow's east end.

Enzo Maresca, David Moyes and John Kennedy - who Ange wants to take to Spurs as his No2 - are all 15/2 with Scotland boss and Celtic legendary skipper Scott Brown further backing again in the pricing
