Kasper Schmeichel will be sidelined for approximately five to six weeks after suffering a shoulder injury while on international duty with Denmark.
The experienced Celtic goalkeeper picked up the knock during Denmark’s UEFA Nations League defeat to Portugal, which has left him unavailable for the Hoops' recent 3-0 Scottish Premiership win over Hearts.
In his absence, backup keeper Viljami Sinisalo made an impressive league debut, keeping a clean sheet in the comfortable home victory.
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers provided an update on Schmeichel’s injury, confirming the five to six weeks recovery timeline but added that Schmeichel believes he could return sooner.
Rodgers emphasised that the club's medical staff will continue to assess his condition on a day-by-day basis.

Speaking to Celtic TV, the Northern Irishman said: "We've had some news and we will see over the course of the next five to six weeks is what was mentioned. But this is just something that I think day by day we have a look at it.
"I think the timeline that was given to us was maybe around that but Kasp tends to think it might not be as long as that. But certainly in the immediate future he won't be available."
When asked if Schmeichel could return before the season’s end, Rodgers added: "Yeah I believe so, but like I say we will just need to keep an eye on him."
Celtic's final fixture of the 2024-25 campaign could be Saturday, May 24, should they progress beyond St Johnstone and reach the Scottish Cup final.
