Celtic manager hunt could 'run for weeks' as Dermot Desmond refuses to rush decision

Celtic will not rush to replace Ange Postecoglou with a recruitment process potentially running for WEEKS, according to a report.

The Hoops lost their gaffer to the riches of the English Premier League after Tottenham came calling and handed the 57-year-old a four-year deal in North London. He claimed a domestic Treble in his last act as Celtic boss after lifting the Scottish Cup at Hampden last weekend in victory over Scottish Championship side Inverness.

Those three trophies this campaign back up the two he won in his first season making it five out of six. His recruitment process was also widely lauded with the likes of Kyogo Furuhashi, Jota, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Reo Hatate, Liel Abada and Daizen Maeda all coming in the door under his watch.

But now the search for his successor is well underway but the Daily Record report Celtic top brass will not be spooked into a quick appointment and will look through the credentials of leading candidates before making the big call. That in theory means the search could last for weeks rather than days.

They also claim bookies' favourite Brendan Rodgers is taking his time to consider whether or not to throw his hat into the ring to make a sensational return to Parkhead. They note the likes of Graham Potter and Enzo Maresca are also among the early front runners with Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna reportedly a left field option.

But Dermot Desmond intends to take his time over the process and look at all available options. The new boss will come in to an already successful team and have a crack at the Champions League group stage next term.
