Celtic loanee Conor Hazard will be testing himself in Europe this season as he helped current side HJK Helsinki reach the Europa League group stage.
The Hoops goalie joined the Finish outfit on loan in January on a one-year agreement and has since featured 25 times in all competitions as he gains valuable top team experience. The Northern Ireland international had a run of games at the Hoops under Neil Lennon. To date he has made seven top team appearances for the Parkhead side, keeping four clean sheets.
He starred in a Scottish Cup final triumph over Hearts, saving two penalties, and now he has found himself ready to test himself in Europe's second tier competition with the likes of Roma, Manchester United and Arsenal all part of today's big draw.
Hazard, 24, played the full 90 minutes as Helsinki picked up a 1-1 draw away to Silkeborg to take the tie 2-1 on aggregate. It's only the second time in the history of the club that they have reached this stage of the competition - with the Celtic keeper playing a major role.
Speaking back in January about the loan move, Ange Postecoglou said: “We are sure this move will be good for Conor, it will be an important opportunity for game-time and I know he will embrace this next period.
“In HJK Helsinki we believe it will be a great environment for him.
“I know HJK and Celtic have enjoyed good co-operation before and I think the loan period will be very positive for everyone concerned.
“We all wish Conor the very best.”
