Celtic legend Martin O'Neill 'considered' for shock Leicester return

Martin O'Neill could be set for a shock return to management, according to a report.

The Celtic legend is reportedly being considered for a return to Leicester City.

The Independent reports that the Irishman could be the man to replace Brendan Rodgers.

They claim that the 71-year-old and Rafa Benitez are on the shortlist for the vacant gig as they aim to survive in the Premier League.

O'Neill's last job was with Nottingham Forest, but his spell at the City Ground lasted just 19 games.

The former Republic of Ireland manager had tremendous success at Parkhead during his time in charge between 2000 and 2005

Rodgers, also ex-Celtic, was sacked by the Foxes on Sunday.

He left the club after over four years at the King Power. His final game ended in defeat after a last-gasp 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace.

Meanwhile, Andy Walker has claimed that VAR in Scotland has advised referees to "take the easy way out" of big calls.

The pundit has dropped the bombshell while talking about his experiences of working for Sky Sports.

Most managers in the Premiership have taken aim at the video technology since its introduction in October.

Most recently Malky Mackay was furious regarding the decision to award Celtic a penalty for an Alex Iacovitti handball after a VAR review.

It came just two weeks after Derek McInnes and Kilmarnock were left reeling when a blatant Andy Considine handball was waved away despite VAR looking at the incident.
