Ange Postecoglou has offered a detailed Celtic injury update following defeat in the Scottish champions opening Sydney Super Cup clash.
Postecoglou rang the changes for the friendly with Sydney FC as they kickstarted their winter break in Australia while the World Cup takes centre stage in Qatar. It was a bruising encounter for the Scottish Premiership leaders as they suffered a surprise defeat to the A-League side at the Allianz Stadium, while Stephen Welsh had to be replaced in the second half after a nasty head collision.
The injury means Celtic could be forced into more changes for the clash with Everton on Sunday. Postecoglou was quizzed over the severity of the knock to Welsh after the full-time whistle, but admitted he couldn't guarantee he would be available to face Everton on Sunday. He said: 'I don't know mate. He is getting stitched up just now. You could see it (was painful) in the moment, but it was more about getting the stitches in."
Both Joe Hart and Giorgios Giakoumakis failed to make the bench despite both jetting out for the competition. Postecoglou confirmed that both had suffered knocks leading into the game, but would not be out long-term.
He said: "Joe was a bit sore after the last game. Giako had a bit of an infected toe so he missed training. Both hopefully will train and be available for Sunday."
Moritz Jenz also failed to make the squad for the game, with Postecoglou admitted he may not be available to face Frank Lampard's men. He added: "We are going through concussion protocols with him. He's passed all the tests, but we will need to see by Sunday.
"He is training individually at the moment. We are looking at a couple of things, but hopefully if he gets through everything properly he could be training on Saturday."
