Celtic injury latest on Reo Hatate and Co as Kilmarnock surface comes into Ange Postecoglou thinking

Ange Postecoglou has provided an early Celtic injury update ahead of the weekend trip to Kilmarnock.

The Hoops boss and his troops are on a high after a five-goal derby thriller with Rangers as they extended their advantage over Michael Beale's men at the Premiership summit to 12 points. Kyogo Furuhashi netted a double while Jota also capitalised on an error at the back to round Allan McGregor for the home side. James Tavernier was on target twice for the visitors in an action-packed Old Firm showdown.

The Hoops went into the clash without key man Reo Hatate while the likes of Liel Abada, Anthony Ralston and James Forrest also missed out. Aaron Mooy did make it, and was replaced by Tomoki Iwata on the hour. A trip to Rugby Park is next up for the table toppers as they bid to edge closer to securing back to back titles.

Derek McInnes' men are in a battle for survival with just seven games to play and with the plastic park coming into the thinking in Ayrshire, the Celtic boss admits that could play a key factor in any of his injured stars returning. While he wouldn't rule out the prospect he did admit at this stage in the week it was 'probably unlikely'.

Speaking to Celtic TV, he said: "We'll wait and see. I think it's probably unlikely at this stage.

"From the medical report and thinking about the venue and the pitch we're going to probably going to be a bit conservative with the boys.

"So unlikely to be anyone coming back that missed last weekend."
