Celtic injury latest as Daizen Maeda leaves Japan camp amid Anthony Ralston and Liel Abada update

Ange Postecoglou previously spoke about hoping to avoid a backdraft of injuries from Celtic stars being on international duty.

Yet the Aussie boss' fears have come true over a certain number of Parkhead important players. The Hoops will continue their defence of the Scottish Premiership crown with a trip to Dingwall to face Ross County next Sunday but could be without some key stars for the trip up north.

Japanese star Daizen Maeda was the only one selected for international duty as pals Kyogo and Reo Hatate were snubbed but the winger was suffering from an injury before his arrival in his homeland. Reports confirmed on Sunday that Maeda will return to Lennoxtown early for treatment after not featuring for his nation.

A statement from the Samurai Blue read: "We would like to inform you that Daizen Maeda (Celtic) will leave the Samurai Blue due to an injury as they prepare for Colombia on Tuesday, March 28. There is no call-up of a player to replace Maeda."

Meanwhile major fears over a further injury to winger Liel Abada were eased in his homeland. The young Israeli has been the subject of transfer talk with some reports suggesting Premier League Southampton could make a big-money swoop in the summer. Abada missed their EURO 2024 qualifier with Kosovo and is reportedly making his return to Glasgow.

For Steve Clarke's Scotland, there will be no place in the squad for defender Anthony Ralston who did not feature against Cyprus in the 3-0 win. The Scot has been withdrawn from the squad with Hearts forward Lawrence Shankland in to replace the injured Che Adams.
