Celtic in transfer hunt for Polish superkid Szymon Wlodarczyk dubbed new Lewandowski

Celtic are in the hunt for Polish superkid Szymon Wlodarczyk - dubbed the new Robert Lewandowski - according to a European transfer expert.

The Hoops have been monitoring the progress of 20-year-old Gornik Zabrze striker Wlodarczyk, who has attracted interest from clubs in Europe and the MLS.

His style has seen him likened to a young Lewandowski and the Polish Under 21s star is highly-rated.

And, in a sports show in Poland, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed the Hoops are in the race to sign Wlodarczyk who has scored eight goals in 16 starts for his club this season.

He said: "This young striker from Gornik Zabrze is a very talented boy.

"I am told that in Poland they consider him a potential Robert Lewandowski. He is a very exciting talent.

"I hear that there are several clubs monitoring him for a summer transfer, such as Celtic, Anderlecht, Freiburg and some Serie A clubs.”

Wlodarczyk admitted last month he expects to be leaving Gornik Zabrze at the end of the season.

He said: "As a footballer, you realise when a change is inevitable, and when you need a fresh start."

However, he wouldn't come cheap. It's been reported that it would take a bid of £3.5 million to persuade his club to sell.
