Celtic 'hold talks' with Daniel Farke over job vacancy

A new name has emerged in Celtic's hunt for a manager.

Daniel Farke has held talks with the Premiership champions over the vacancy at Parkhead, according to reports.

Several names have been linked with the post by left Ange Postecoglou on Tuesday this week, as the Australian signed a four-year deal at Tottenham.

But this is the first time that Farke has been touted with potentially taking on the job.

Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg claims initial talks have been held with the former Norwich boss.

The German was most recently sacked by Borussia Monchengladbach in May after only managing a tenth-placed finish in the Bundesliga despite a considerable budget to spend.

It remains to be seen what the next steps in Celtic's recruitment process are, with reports earlier today stating that they could make a formal approach for Enzo Maresca after tonight's Champions League final.

Meanwhile, a former Celtic player has rated Kjetil Knutsen's chances of becoming the next Hoops manager.

Vidar Riseth reckons it's 50-50 on whether the Norwegian boss would leave Bodo/Glimt for Parkhead or not.

He said: "Kjetil is a really good coach and I am sure the Celtic fans remember what Bodo did to them last year. I spoke to him about Celtic around that time and I was talking about the club and the atmosphere.

"I remember Kjetil saying to me, 'How was it to play for Celtic?', and I told him it was an amazing experience. I know that he likes Celtic as a club and he will know all about the current team. With so many good players and Champions League football, it's a very attractive job.
