Celtic hero Scott Brown in 'legend and true friend' Mikael Lustig tribute following his retirement

Scott Brown has paid tribute to 'legend and true friend' Mikael Lustig as he wished him all the best for his retirement.

The Celtic hero has officially brought an end to his playing career at the age of 35 after a hugely successful spell in the game. In Glasgow alone he won 16 major trophies split into eight league titles, four Scottish Cups and four league cups. In that trophy-laden spell he was also an Invincible, an eight-in-a-row winner and also part of a historic Treble Treble success.

Former team-mate and now Fleetwood Town boss Brown took to social media to sign off with his famous 'Lustig your the one' chant before sending his well wishes. Posting pictures of the duo playing together at Parkhead, he wrote: "@mikaellustig your the one. Happy retirement my friend. What a legend you are and a true friend. Wish you all the luck in the future."

Celtic also paid tribute to the club hero with a video of his best bits and a quick-chat in the build up to his final game for AIK Stokholm vs IF Elfsborg. That game ended in defeat meaning they finished fifth in the domestic table with familiar face John Guidetti sent-off.

Speaking to the Hoops in the build-up to his final match, he said: "To be fair it has been quite normal I would say. It's been quite okay so far but I think the game on Sunday will probably hit me big time and it will be sentimental. A small party after that. Sunday is going to be special.

"I have always been a crier so there will be a couple of them [tears].

"The bond I had with the club [Celtic], the supporters and team-mates. I am really happy for that. I am looking forward to the future and hopefully I can be in Glasgow soon."
