Celtic hero Larsson lands £100m price tag and Cristiano Ronaldo trait comparison from Neil Lennon

Neil Lennon reckons Henrik Larsson would easily be worth over £100million in today's market as he singled out a similar trait to Cristiano Ronaldo.

The former Celtic midfielder and boss played in the same team as the Swedish icon during his time at Parkhead before he eventually moved on to join Barcelona on a free. He left a huge legacy with the club and fans and is still adored by the Hoops faithful to this day. The hitman was the real game changer for the Spanish side in their Champions League win over Arsenal back in 2006.

Liverpool signed Darwin Nunez for £75million and while Lennon is a big fan of the attacker, he is not as prolific as his former Celtic team-mate and that is why a lofty price tag would be placed on Larsson's shoulders today. Even towards the end of his career he spent time at Manchester United and made a telling contribution.

His ability to score with both feet and his 'unbelievable' ability in the air even drew comparisons go superstar Ronaldo - who has won it all in the game.

Speaking to Celtic odds, Lennon said: "Henrik from his peak, so the ages of 28 onwards, you would be talking about £100million plus comfortably. I really like Darwin Nunez at Liverpool, he wouldn’t be as prolific as Henrik, and he was £75m.

"So you would easily need to talk more for Henrik because of his ratio of goals to games. Henrik left Celtic on a free to join Barcelona and he more or less scored in every game when he played for them.

"He came on in the Champions League final against Arsenal in 2006 and changed the game. Then he went to Man United - at the age of about 35, 36 - and he wins the Premier League.

"The guy had everything, he was world class and I was fortunate enough to play with him for four or five years. Every time you sat in the dressing room, you would look at him and just know you had a chance in the game because he could score with either foot and he was unbelievable in the air.

"He used to hang like Cristiano Ronaldo, bearing in mind he wasn’t a particularly tall guy and didn’t have rippling shoulder muscles."
