Celtic hero Chris Sutton labels Brighton 'downgrade' as he dismisses Ange Postecoglou exit talk

Chris Sutton believes Ange Postecoglou will one day move south of the border for a crack at the English Premier League - but he is certain it won't be with Brighton at this stage.

The Aussie boss only arrived at Celtic last season and after some excellent work in the transfer market and transforming the style of play, they won back the Premiership title from Rangers and lifted the Premier Sports Cup in a debut campaign to remember. That league triumph secured Champions League qualification as the Hoops test themselves at the elite level of club football.

Postecoglou is idolised by the Hoops faithful with Sutton adamant he is 'building something special' in Glasgow's east end. Speculation is rife that the Seagulls could look at the 57-year-old to replace Graham Potter with the highly-regarded boss wanted as Thomas Tuchel's replacement at Chelsea.

Celtic idol Sutton knows that step into management south of the border will come one day but believes a move to a club of Brighton size and stature at this stage would be a 'downgrade'

He tweeted: "Ange Postecoglou will be linked with managerial jobs in the Premier League and I’m sure will eventually go down south but he’s only just got started at Celtic and he’s building something special.

"He certainly wouldn’t downgrade to a club Brighton’s size just yet… why would he?"

Celtic are flying this season and have won their first six league games scoring 25 goals.

They've hammered Dundee United 9-0 and Rangers 4-0 in that run as they bid to make it seven on the trot this weekend against Livingston.
