Celtic handed 'major' Cameron Carter-Vickers injury boost

Cameron Carter-Vickers is set to hand Celtic a major injury boost heading into the new season.

The Scottish Sun reports that the American international is close to a return to full training.

The powerful defender has been out of action since undergoing knee surgery in May this year.

But he is poised to step up his comeback and will reportedly be ready to feature in the early weeks of the season for Brendan Rodgers.

The vice-captain stayed in Glasgow whole the rest of his teammates jetted off to Japan for the club's pre-season tour.

He trained with the B team, but will now rejoin the first team upon their return home to Scotland.

The report states that he could feature in training with Rodgers' side today.

While that's a huge positive for the player and the team, Rodgers is unlikely to take any unnecessary risks with the 25-year-old after such a lengthy period spent on the sidelines.

It's also reported that Maik Nawrocki's move to Celtic Park is nearing completion.

The Legia Warsaw defender is said to be waiting on the green light to sign a five-year deal at Parkhead.

The Pole is believed to be in Glasgow, with Celtic ready to officially announce the signing of the 22-year-old imminently.

Meanwhile, there is no beef between Matt O'Riley and Ange Postecoglou.

The Celtic player insists any grumbling between the pair has been blown way out of proportion.

The Danish under-21 international insists he's learned more under the Australian manager than any other boss in his career so far.

And the attacking midfielder now says he's ready to kick on more under the guidance of Brendan Rodgers.
