Celtic flop Vasilis Barkas hints at future as he delivers update on time at FC Utrecht

Celtic flop Vasilis Barkas has opened up on his time in the Netherlands as he admitted: 'I feel at home'.

The Hoops sent out the goalkeeper on loan to FC Utrecht for the season after a miserable time in Glasgow since making a big money £5million move from AEK Athens to sign for then boss Neil Lennon. His below par performances ended up with him falling behind Conor Hazard - currently on loan at HJK Helsinki - and Scott Bain in the pecking order.

A fresh start was given when Ange Postecoglou arrived but he failed to impress the Aussie boss with veteran goalkeeper and firm No1 Joe Hart brought to the club. Benjamin Siegrist is now playing back-up following his free transfer this summer with Bain back at No3. A move to the Eredivisie with Utrecht offered a much needed escape route for Barkas and he has grabbed the opportunity with both hands with impressive displays in his seven games to date for his current side.

His form also landed him a recall with the Greece national team. He's kept clean sheets in his last two outings and will take a further confidence boost from his international return as his nation take on Cyprus and Northern Ireland in the Nations League and a friendly against Hungary.

Barkas admits he doesn't feel any pressure and the fans are crazy as the Celtic goalkeeper discussed his move with Dutch publication De Telegraaf.

He said: "I enjoy it here and I feel at home. My family is having fun too.

"I also enjoy the fans in Stadion Galgenwaard. They are crazy. I don't feel any pressure. I have a contract until the end of the season."
