Celtic FC sign Belfast teenager Francis Turley on three-year deal

A North Belfast teenager has secured a dream move to Glasgow Celtic.

Francis Turley, 16, has signed a three-year professional deal with the Scottish champions after being on the radar of a number of cross-channel clubs.

Celtic announced the deal for the former Glentoran midfielder on Friday, alongside former West Ham United youngster Justin Osagie.

The Hoops said: "Celtic have today completed the signings of Justin Osagie and Francis Turley, with both players joining the club on three-year contracts.

"Seventeen-year-old Justin, who had previously been a youth with West Ham United, will go into the B team squad, while 16-year-old Francis, whose previous club was Glentoran, will play with the Under-18s.

"Everyone welcomes Justin and Francis to the club and wishes them all the best for the future."

Turley - a creative midfielder with an eye for a pass - has represented Northern Ireland at Under 17 level and featured in last season's Victory Shield. He is a product of the Irish FA JD Academy run by Andy Waterworth.

He will go immediately into Celtic's Under 18 squad this season.
