Celtic fans react to new home kit launch with mixed views on 'modern twist' design

Celtic have launched their new home kit for the season ahead with fans taking to social media to react to the design.

The top is now available to order with the short sleeved version setting supporters back £70 with long sleeves coming in at an extra £10. Shorts are listed at £38 for adults with socks at £20 meaning it will cost at minimum £128 for the full kit this term. The explanation for the design on the website reads: "The latest green and white hooped adidas X Celtic 2023/24 Home Kit is here.

"Introducing a modern twist on the traditional hoops, with elements of the glass pattern from the original stadium entrance featuring on the official Celtic FC 2023/24 Home Shirt. An embroidered Celtic crest displayed proudly on the chest along with a Celtic cross sign-off on the back neck of the jersey."

Supporters have flocked online to express their views on the latest effort by Adidas. The announcement comes just hours after Brendan Rodgers and his troops discovered their Scottish Premiership schedule for the season with Ross County making the trip to Parkhead for the opening game of the season and the first derby showdown with Rangers scheduled for matchday four on September 3 at Ibrox.

Here are a selection of comments on the 2023/24 design left by Celtic fans online.

One said: "Bitterly disappointed."

Another commented: "Right in the bin Celtic come on man.

A Hoops fan moaned: "Worst hoops kit in my lifetime easily. Ange left and Mooy retired knowing this was coming."

A further Celtic supporter added: "Still time to delete this."

Another social media wrote: "Be a few away kits in the stands next season then."

It wasn't all negative reaction with a number of fans happy with the new look.

One said: " I quite like it - looks European to me."

Another wrote: "I'm going to be honest, I quite like it! I do find the black collar jarring, but really like the rest."

A further fan added: "Looks better than the mock-ups and on a person tbf."
