Celtic fans light up Feyenoord away end with pyro show for Champions League opener

Celtic fans lit up the Feyenoord away end with an epic pyro show prior to their Champions League opener.

Brendan Rodgers' side are aiming to get off to a positive start in Group E against the Dutch champions, with matches against Atletico Madrid and Lazio to come.

Celtic are backed by an impressive away support tonight in the Netherlands and the fans made themselves seen and heard prior to kick-off.

Strobe pyrotechnics were set off in the away end as both teams made their way on to the surface at the De Kuip stadium.

In previous seasons, Celtic have been hit with Uefa fines after similar pyro displays. It remains to be seen if the club will be charged this time around.

Luis Palma has been thrown in for his first Celtic start against Feyenoord. Ahead of kick-off, Brendan Rodgers explained: “Firstly, Luis Palma is up to speed. He’s played games for Aris before he came in.

"I think at this level it’s about technique and speed. You need that, especially at this level with the tempo and the intensity of the game. And that’s what he has. He’s got good speed and technical ability on the ball.”

Rodgers also revealed an injury blow to defender Nat Phillips. He added:  “Unfortunately, Nat Philips misses out. He rolled his ankle at the end of the first half and sadly hasn’t been able to make it.”
