Celtic fans feel used by Ange as Peter Lawwell told to clear coaching decks – Hotline

Tottenham's confirmation of Ange Postecoglou as their new boss closed the book on the Australian's chapter at Celtic and Hoops fans continued to process their sense of loss.

It's now the fear of him plundering his former club which is their fear but there are two coaches who many would happily see follow Ange down south. Lance Little, Erskine, said: "I am feeling a mixture of sadness, disappointment, and disbelief. I also feel a sense of pride for having such a special individual as Celtic manager for two trophy-laden seasons. He will be sorely missed but I wish him all the best in his new challenge. Our loss is Tottenham's gain. Onwards and upwards and on to more Trebles and hopefully some special results in Europe."

Eddie Easson, Ballingry, said: "Losing Big Ange is a bitter pill to swallow. What the supporters need is a statement from Celtic. They want to know what the big man was offered by the board and exactly what he said. If John Kennedy and Gavin Strachan want to go they should show them the door. Once again Celtic appear to have been used by a manager but who can blame them? Every manager wants to be at the top table."

Jimmy Murray, Edinburgh, said: "Celtic should get rid of Kennedy, Strachan and his ipad. Anyone watching Celtic last season will have seen tactically they are clueless. This is down to this pair plus Ange. Kennedy has had every job in the club. He is there on sufferance and the promise of a job for life from Peter Lawwell. This is the chance for Celtic to get rid of them all and give the fans a team to challenge in Europe."

Paddy Gowans said: "I hope when Postecoglou takes Kennedy with him. He's bled Celtic dry for years taking wages under false pretences and I am okay with Brendan Rodgers coming back."

Paul Price, Belfast, said: "All of the Rangers fans who mocked Postecoglou at the start are now glad he's gone and that's fine as nobody is bigger than the club we'll move on. Any approaches for Kyogo and Reo Hatate must be met with £25million fees and not a penny less."

Neil Renton, Edinburgh, said: "Celtic should go for Steven Gerrard as their new gaffer. Not only has he got a wealth of experience in the game but he knows what’s needed to win the Premiership title."

Alfie Mullin, London, said: "Celtic fan Scott Kerr seems a tad delusional. He reckons that Rangers will never match Celtic's Treble tally. Considering they are only one Treble ahead of us, that's a big statement. I reckon we will equal their total next season.

"Now that Postecoglou has gone, their club will be in turmoil. Not that we needed him to leave. Michael Beale would have wiped the floor with him next season anyway. I expect that Spurs will be looking for a new club before Halloween."

Gary Stevenson, Newtonhill, said: "It would be good if Celtic employed the out of work Brendan Rodgers. It would allow him to pull in a wage until a big club came in for him."

Paul McCormack, Coatbridge, said: "Football eh? Just when you think you've got 'the one', off he goes, but there's no way all that happened in the space of 48 hours. He said we'd be surprised how long he'd stay at Celtic, he wasn't wrong."

Jim Richmond, Paisley, said: "Rangers should look at Jamie Vardy for next season, he is going nowhere with Leicester now they have been relegated. He can just play out his final years in the lower leagues or come to Ibrox play in front of 50,000 passionate fans, play in Europe and the most famous derby in the world. I don't think he would be driven by financial issues, and I am sure they would come to a training programme to suit both parties."

Scott Gowers, Edinburgh, said: "Partick Thistle and their supporters have really done themselves proud this season and the play-off final tells the SFA that it's time for a 16 or 18 team top flight. The Dutch league helps their teams in Europe but the SFA seem to think the money from at least four Old Firm games a season is the be all and end all. Now's the time for change and the advert of Sunday's game tells us it is time for change."
