Celtic discuss Hoops loanee's injury after unusual knock as Motherwell 'loads of bumps and bruises' update provided

Motherwell have opted to remain cautious with Liam Shaw after the Celtic loanee's injury against St Mirren on Wednesday.

The midfielder was subbed in the first half of the 1-1 Premiership draw after complaints of 'blurred vision.'

Unable to play against parent club Celtic this weekend anyway, 'Well boss Alexander has chosen to be careful with Shaw after he was unable to fully shake the injury's impact.

The Steelmen and the Hoops spoke about him participating in training on Thursday but even though Shaw was cleared for action, Alexander kept him out.

Motherwell are nursing several knocks after the draw in Paisley, but they are happy Liam Donnelly has come through without an injury after a challenge from St Mirren's Richard Tait.

Alexander said: "We have loads of bumps and bruises, loads. But this is a tough sport and we have a tough group here.

"Liam Shaw could have trained the day after. I think he had a migraine which is why his sight was blurred. We spoke to Celtic about it.

"They were happy for him to train but we wanted to be cautious and leave it until later in the week for him to train. Liam Donnelly has come through.

"He took a nasty tackle to his shin but he's fine. Everyone else is ok. We should have a decent squad to choose from on Sunday."
