Celtic are on the brink of securing their fourth consecutive Scottish Premiership title after ruthlessly capitalising on Rangers’ slip-up against Motherwell.
Brendan Rodgers’ side thumped St Mirren 5-2 in Paisley to extend their lead at the top to 16 points, with just nine games remaining.
The Celtic fans sang, "Glasgow Celtic, champions" as they celebrated the Hyun-Jun Yang inspired triumph on the road.
The Hoops now require just three more wins to mathematically wrap up the league, and remarkably, they could do so before the Premiership split.
With a Scottish Cup quarter-final against Hibernian next Sunday and a monumental derby clash with Rangers at Celtic Park on March 16, Rodgers’ men are showing no signs of slowing down in their quest for a domestic clean sweep, having already lifted the League Cup in December.
While a victory over their fierce city rivals would be another huge step towards the title, it won’t be enough to seal the deal.
However, if Celtic defeat Rangers and Heart of Midlothian in back-to-back home fixtures, they could potentially clinch the league away to St Johnstone on March 30.

A maximum haul from those three games would give the Parkhead club a minimum 19-point advantage over Rangers, with only 18-points left to play for.
Rodgers has made it clear that he wants his team to maintain their relentless momentum and finish the job as quickly as possible.
Speaking after the St Mirren victory, he said: “Yeah, I think I've always wanted to sprint over the line in any of the competitions that we've been in.
“So we sit in a great position, 16 points clear with the goal difference, you can say, as an extra point. But we're in a really, really good place. And the players are so deserving of it.
“But we still have a lot of work to do. We want to get into the semi-final, a tough game next week. But we'll be ready for that.
“And then we want to finish the job in the league as quick as we can.”
