Celtic coach John Kennedy 'being considered' for Hearts manager job

John Kennedy is reportedly a possible Hearts managerial target.

It's claimed Tynecastle chiefs have included the Celtic coach on a shortlist when conducting a search for a new manager.

The Daily Record reports that Joe Savage and Ann Budge are considering a possible swoop for Kennedy in the post-season.

Steven Naismith is currently in interim charge of Hearts after Robbie Neilson was sacked.

And there has been speculation Naismith could be handed the job on a permanent basis should he help Hearts to a third-placed finish.

However, the recent reports suggest Kennedy is a possible alternative for the Hearts role having served as a first-tea, coach under Brendan Rodgers, Neil Lennon and Ange Postecoglou.

Kennedy was previously approached by Hibs over the manager's position at the club, however, he knocked back the Easter Road club to remain at Celtic.

Reflecting on his decision to snub Hibs in 2019, Kennedy previously explained: "In my whole career and life, I don't have regrets.

"I very much evaluate any decision I make and I go with it, I fully commit and then what will be, will be.

"I trust myself to make the right decision. You always reflect on it and question things but certainly at this time that's nothing to do with it at all.

"I have dedicated everything in my time and life to do the best for the club, so that's the same for now in terms of the situation we find ourselves in now. It's about what's right for the club and not my agenda and what's good for me.”
