Celtic chief replaces Rangers director in SPFL board shake-up as Neil Doncaster leads the way

Celtic chief executive Michael Nicholson has been elected to the SPFL board at the expense of Rangers managing director Stewart Robertson.

The Parkhead chief replaces the outgoing Ibrox director and Nicholson will serve as one of three Scottish Premiership representatives, alongside Hibs owner Ron Gordon and Ross County director James McDonald. The trio are joined by officials from the Championship alongside club representatives from both League One and League Two. SPFL chief executive boss Neil Doncaster leads this the group, with chairman Murdoch MacLennan and independent, non-executive director Karen McCluskey.

Nicholson first came into his role at Celtic on an interim basis. an it was supposed to be for the short-term after former Scottish Rugby boss Dominic McKay's tenure in the job proved short-lived. He replaced long-serving Peter Lawwell last summer after his retirement but cited 'personal reasons' for walking out of the job after only a few months in post.
