Celtic's hopes of wrapping up a quick fire title will not be delayed by the coronation of King Charles.
Record Sport understands the SPFL have no plans to rearrange the fixture list around three days of royal celebrations which begin with the new monarch’s crowning moment on Saturday, May 6. The defending champions are on target to wrap up the top flight that weekend - in the first match after the split - if they continue a winning streak which stretches back to the last Old Firm game on January 2.
And Hampden sources confirmed last night the Premiership card will not be put on hold, even though a large number of games will be moved south of the border. The entire round of English Championship fixtures has already been switched to Monday, May 8 with other matches from the Premier League down also expected to be affected by the event.
But our source said: “Football in Scotland will continue as usual. The celebrations will only cause a potential problem for clubs based around the London area because of police constraints.”
