Celtic skipper Callum McGregor has called on the club to do everything possible to retain Kyogo Furuhashi, as speculation grows about the Japanese striker’s future.
Reports from France suggest Furuhashi could be heading to Ligue 1 side Rennes for £10million, shortly after playing a key role in securing Celtic’s spot in the UEFA Champions League play-offs.
Adding to the rumours, former Celtic star Jota is reportedly linked to a potential deal involving Furuhashi.
The Hoops forward was at the centre of a dramatic 1-0 victory over BSC Young Boys, where three of his goals were ruled out.

Reacting to the suggestions of his teammate leaving after the European clash at Celtic Park, McGregor said: “He’s a top player. Again, you see his quality, his movement, the way he sets the tone for the team.
“All our good players, we want to keep them for as long as we can and generally when there’s speculation, then people have done well so we want that as well.
“It gets people talking about Celtic and the players that we’ve got so I’m sure the club will do everything they can to keep him because he’s a top player and a top person as well.”
