Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou lands manager of the month award ahead of Rangers clash

Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou lands manager of the month award ahead of Rangers clash

CELTIC manager, Ange Postecoglou, has started the new season where he left off last term by being named the Scottish Premiership Glen’s Manager of the Month for August, following another blistering start to the league campaign.

Postecoglou’s side are one of only three teams in the eight senior leagues in the UK (alongside Arsenal and Dumbarton) to have a 100 per cent record in their opening league fixtures, following wins over Aberdeen (July 31), Ross County, Kilmarnock, Heart of Midlothian and Dundee United, scoring 21 goals with only one against.

The Australian manager picked up five Glen’s Premiership Manager of the Month awards last season, including a run of nominations in January, February, March and April and was also named the Glen’s Scottish Premiership Manager of the Season in May.

Postecoglou said: “It is pleasing to receive this award again, which as ever is received by us all as a wider team, and recognises the collective efforts of the players and my backroom team.

“We have worked hard in the early part of the season, delivering some excellent performances and really positive results, but we know we will need to maintain these really high levels in order to achieve what we want to.

“I would also like to thank our fans who, as ever, have been magnificent once again all month in supporting us.”

Colin Matthews, CEO of Glen’s owner the Loch Lomond Group, added: “This is shaping up to be another tremendous season in the Scottish Premiership and Celtic have posted an early warning to their rivals that they are determined to hold on to their Premiership title.

“Sunday’s outstanding performance against Dundee United where they recorded their largest ever away victory in the league, capped a superb start to the season for Ange Postecoglou and his team and our voting panel were clear that the award had to go Celtic’s way.

“With some outstanding Champions League fixtures to come over the next few months, the Celtic fans have really invested in the football their side are currently delivering under Ange Postecoglou and with a huge match to come against main title challengers Rangers at the weekend, they could not have hoped for a better start to the season.”
