Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou addresses Tottenham job links

Ange Postecoglou has addressed reports linking him with a move to Tottenham.

Yesterday it emerged that the Australian is high on Spurs' wishlist as they search for a new boss ahead of next season.

Daniel Levy appears to be taking his time in making a decision on the Premier League club's new gaffer.

Postecoglou has been touted for several jobs south of the border after the impressive job he's carried out at Celtic over the past 48-months.

But the Hoops No.1 insists he's not given the links a moment's thought, as he concentrates on delivering a domestic treble for the club.

"I’ve been asked about these things plenty – and yet I’m still here," he smiled while speaking to Sky Sports.

"It doesn’t [come onto my radar] and anyone who knows me knows whats important is the here and now – I've never planned anything in my football career.

"My ambitions are to enjoy tomorrow and then try to win a cup final and make it a special year.

"It’s not every year you have the opportunity to win a treble and if anyone thinks I’m thinking anything other than that they don’t know me.

"I know that’s not how football works. You can’t as manager chart a course to be in a certain position at a certain time.

“I do know 100 percent  if you’re not concentrated in the task at hand your destiny is quickly taken out of your hands.”

Meanwhile, Harry Redknapp insists that Postecoglou would find it tough to turn Spurs down if indeed the London giants came calling.

He came up against the Hoops boss while in international management, and he's certain he has the credentials to take on the vacant gig.

He said: "Back then Tim Cahill told me what a fantastic coach he is and that was good enough for me.

“I knew he had to be good if Tim was bigging him up that much and I’m not really surprised at what he’s achieved. I’m sure there’s a lot more to come yet.

"I was impressed when I met Ange, and he’s been wonderful for Celtic - even though some people didn’t know much about him and thought he might struggle there.

"No disrespect to Celtic, but when a Premier League club like Tottenham shows interest then you have to take notice.

"They have a football stadium as good as anywhere in the world and an amazing training ground - now they need to get things right on the pitch."
