Defiant Richard Foster insists he can't see any negatives of Celtic and Rangers facing off in the Sydney Super Cup friendly.
Fans from both sides of the Glasgow divide have been left fuming at the mini-tournament in November, with Sydney FC and Western Sydney Wanderers also involved.
But both clubs have talked up the clash in Australia, with Rangers manager Gio van Bronckhorst claiming it will allow his players to test themselves against top opposition while others go to the World Cup in Qatar.
The clash has also been billed as a homecoming for Ange Postecoglou admitting it will be "special" from him to take Celtic to Oz.
Despite raised eyebrows from some punters that it could devalue the rivalry, Foster reckons fans must be more open-minded.
The former Ibrox defender told the PLZ Football Show: "It's hard to see the negatives here.
"It's a nice break, (and) it will be good for all the supporters in Australia that don't get to travel to an Old Firm game.
'Yes it's not going to be the same as a competitive one in this country, but they are not billing it as such.
"It's just kind of a tournament in Sydney.
"So just go and embrace it, and enjoy that Celtic and Rangers are big enough to warrant these countries to get them over there to play a tournament, which I think is good for Scottish football in the end.
"If fans are over here complaining for whatever reason, they can't get to the game, or that they shouldn't be playing friendlies, I think they maybe should just get over it."
