Celtic and Rangers mudslinging proves M is for moron as raging regular vows to quit the Hotline

There was only one show in town as tiny Darvel's Scottish Cup sensation over Aberdeen dominated a Hotline which left no hiding place for Dons boss Jim Goodwin.

The biggest upset in the history of our game had congratulations and condemnation in equal measure. Tam Bain, Desborough, emailed: "I have no words left to sum up Aberdeen. They've hit the basement in football and Goodwin is in charge of this embarrassing and sinking ship. They are awful and i'm speechless, he must go immediately or there will be no fans going to matches. Dave Cormack has been warned." Robert McEwan, Mount Vernon, emailed: "Berwick Rangers, Hamilton, Clyde, and Inverness can now take a back seat for shock results in the Scottish Cup. Aberdeen's dismal effort at Darvel was the worst ever and embarrassing for our game ,but well done to the junior club."

William Masson, Aboyne, said: "Well done Darvel, a thoroughly deserved win. A good set up down there, will be interesting to see how they progress over the next few seasons. As for the Dons, a humbling wake up call to the fact we are not the big club we think we are. Lessons need to be learned but I won’t hold my breath."

Eddie Easson, Ballingry, said: "Aberdeen's defeat against Darvel will cost Goodwin his job and he will be written into Darvel's history book. Since day one his tactics have been all over the place. Firstly, getting rid of Scott Brown, a total winner who was massive in the dressing room. Then all out defence against Celtic after weeks of all out attack. Then another change against Rangers.'

Andrew Lamb, Fraserburgh, added: Well done to Darvel, but realistically , Louis Duk Lopez , Bojan Miovski, and Vincente Besuijn simply can't score and only raise their game against Rangers, but that's it It's time Goodwin and his flops were shown the door."

Frank McFerran, Carrickfergus, said: "I said weeks ago that Goodwin wouldn’t last the season, his team are his chosen players and he's just not a manager up to the standard for Aberdeen. They need to bring in David Martindale even though he’s a Rangers supporter." George Wilson, West Sussex, emailed: " Aberdeen were talking about getting back to Hampden in the Scottish Cup to make up for the League Cup defeat but they are a total shambles of a team. Manager Goodwin is probably on the way out but the new manager will have plenty of time to sort the team out as Aberdeen don’t have a game meaningful now until April 22 at home to Rangers."

Alan McGaw, Alloa, "What an absolute shock of a result but congratulations to the small town of Darvel and its club for their victory against all odds and Aberdeen. The cash from a full house and live TV coverage in the next round at home should help them for the future. It also puts the Berwick Rangers result from 1967 to bed now."

Tam Williamson, Lanarkshire, said: "It took Rangers 30 minutes of extra time to beat 10 man Aberdeen in the League Cup yet Darvel beat the Dons in normal time."

Irwin Houston, Giffnock, said: "A huge congratulations to Darvel on their magnificent win over Aberdeen. Goodwin omitted to tell his players during his team talk that Darvel play in blue and just think you are playing Rangers."

Rob Pender, emailed: "There is no excuse for poor playing surfaces after seeing the beautiful condition of Darvel's pitch against Aberdeen. Shame on the SFA for Hampden and St Johnstone which have muck heaps."

Paul McIntrye, said: "It’s not VAR that’s ruining Scottish football at the moment. It’s the constant bickering from the Old Firm morons. They're like little kids in the playground. Give it rest and grow up.

"There is no conspiracy, people make mistakes, even with machines and it’s part and parcel of life."

Henry Moffat, Stirling, said: "I find it hilarious the way Rangers minded media people are trying to spin the narrative that the new Rangers manager has the boss of the champions rattled. It is so obvious they know they cannot compete financially or on the park with Celtic that they are willing to try anything to disrupt us, Good luck with that one."
