Celtic and Rangers legends set for World Cup roles as ITV announce punditry line-up for Qatar 2022

Some familiar faces to Celtic and Rangers fans will form part of the ITV coverage team for Qatar 2022.

The latest instalment of the World Cup is drawing nearer and kicks off on November 20 before coming to a conclusion exactly a week before Christmas (December 18). Steve Clarke's Scotland side won't be there but Rangers legends Graeme Souness and Ally McCoist will fly the flag for the nation, with the latter taking on co-commentary duties as the former takes part in the punditry team.

Former Celtic midfielder Roy Keane will also be part of that make-up while Parkhead hero John Hartson will work in a similar role to McCoist as his beloved Wales look for a successful tournament. Ian Wright, Gary Neville, Karen Carney, Joe Cole, Eniola Aluko, Nigel De Jong, Nadia Nadim and Hal Robson-Kanu are the other pundits involved for the biggest tournament in world football.

Commentary will come from Sam Matterface, Clive Tyldesley, Jon Champion, Seb Hutchinson, Joe Speight and Tom Gayle alongside co-commentators Lee Dixon, McCoist, Hartson and Andros Townsend.

ITV Director of Sport, Niall Sloan, said: “The World Cup is the biggest sporting event of the year and ITV are committed to bring viewers the very best extensive coverage of the tournament accompanied by expert punditry and analysis.

"We will immerse viewers into the tournament with our live coverage, highlights shows, podcasts, online and social media content, ensuring viewers do not miss a minute of the action.”
