Celtic and Rangers fans discover fresh time for New Year derby as Sky announce festive fixtures

It's been revealed that Rangers v Celtic will take place in front of the TV cameras on January 2nd with a 12:30 kick-off.

The New Year's fixture card in Scottish football is set to be a derby bonanza, with the Glasgow pair clashing at Ibrox on top of Hearts facing off against Hibs in Edinburgh. Fellow city clubs Queen's Park and Partick Thistle also play each other in the Scottish Championship, with broadcasters Sky Sports confirming that they will show the second meeting between Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Ange Postecoglou's men in the lunchtime slot to kick 2023 off with a bang.

Rangers v Hibernian has also been selected for coverage on Thursday December 15th with a kick-off at 8.00pm, with Celtic's trip to Aberdeen two days later broadcast from Pittodrie by Sky with a 12:30pm starting time. Ross County were due to host the Light Blues on Christmas Eve but that's been moved.

It will now start a day earlier on December 23rd with a 7:30 kick-off. Hibs v Celtic on December 28th is the other game selected.

Sky's final Scottish Premiership match before the New Year's Glasgow contest will begin at 8:00pm in Edinburgh.

There's plenty of top flight action to come between now and then though as Rangers sit two points behind the Hoops in this year's title race.
