Celtic may have shown signs of life on the Champions League stage - but Rangers aren't yet equipped to deal with the elite table of European football.
Former Ibrox winger Neil McCann has been providing his verdict on the Scottish clubs in the top competition on the continent after another sobering week. Celtic have two points from five games and are out of Europe altogether, condemned to finishing bottom of Group F after a 1-1 draw with Shakhtar Donetsk.
Rangers meanwhile need to win by five or more goals against Ajax next week to finish third in Group A after a 3-0 defeat to Napoli, but lose by more than two and they could go down as statistically the worst team the group stages have ever seen. McCann, speaking on Sportsound, says it was important for the Light Blues to make this frontier but it's the Hoops who have shone brightest with some impressive individuals.

He said: "I watched Celtic and at times I thought they were very good. They were very aggressive and creating lots of chances. You look at the players who have stood out for them, Greg Taylor, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Matt O'Riley, there's been players who have blossomed and will learn a lot.
"When you look at Rangers, I am not sure there are a lot of guys who jump out as having done themselves sterling reputation. This has been a rude awakening. I don't think they are ready for the Champions League qualification.
"But if you are going to have aspirations within the club, it shows you how much you need to invest. The biggest thing for me was Rangers were at the top table.
"It's been a sobering campaign. Had they not got there, Celtic would have stretched away financially, so that is the positive I take if looking from a Rangers perspective. But I don't think you can look at this campaign as anything other than a proper learning exercise."
