Celtic and Inverness Scottish Cup final to break kick off time tradition and avoid FA Cup TV tussle

This season’s Scottish Cup Final is set for a break from tradition and kick-off at LUNCHTIME.

The seasons showpiece event will see Treble chasing Celtic take on Inverness CT at Hampden after their respective semi-final victories over the weekend. The Highlanders made light work of Falkirk with a 3-0 victory while Jota’s header was enough for the Hoops to gain revenge after last year’s defeat to Rangers at the same stage.

Those results set up a showdown between the two on June 3, but the usual 3pm kick-off time is set to be axed, which is sure to anger fans on both sides, reports the Scottish Sun. The Caley Thistle faithful were forced to make an early start for the long trip down to Glasgow for their 12:15pm clash with the Bairns, and are now going to have to set their alarm clocks yet again on cup final day.

With the game taking place on the same day as the FA Cu[p final between Manchester City and Manchester United, broadcasters Viaplay and BBC Scotland are keen not to go head-to-head with the English version. Ironically, the FA Cup has controversially kicked-off at 5.15pm in recent years, but the switch back to Saturday afternoon has prompted a rethink north of the border and a tea-time kick-off hasn't been ruled out.

The Manchester clubs will face each other in the final for the first time in history. It’s set to draw a huge TV audience, with Pep Guardiola’s men also in the hunt for a Treble of their own. The Premiership title and the Champions League are also within their grasp and they could create history at Wembley, matching their rivals achievements from 1999.
