Celtic academy product makes debut for Premier League club 14 months on from Parkhead exit

Armstrong Oko-Flex has made his debut for West Ham United, 14 months on from leaving Celtic for a shot at the English Premier League.

The Irish winger's contract expires at the London Stadium next year after he signed a two-year deal, although there is an option for a further 12 months. Two appearances were made for Celtic during his time in Glasgow, joining them in 2018 as a 16-year-old after time at another London club, Arsenal. Oko-Flex was intergrated into the Hoops academy and eventually turned out in green and white before heading back to England in June 2021.

His debut has come in a Europa Conference League play-off second leg victory over Danish side Viborg, coming on as a substitute for the final 10 minutes of play for Argentine playmaker Manuel Lanzini. Gianlucca Scamacca, Said Benhrahma and Tomas Soucek all netted to secure a 6-1 aggregate victory for David Moyes' men.

They enter today's group stage draw as a pot one club and could be drawn against Celtic's Premiership rivals Hearts, with Robbie Neilson's men in pot three.

Oko-Flex has made a positive impression in the West Ham U-23s side, scoring 12 times in 25 appearances and was on the bench for their Premier League opener versus Manchester City.

In the Champions League, Ange Postecoglou's side are looking forward to exciting glamour ties at Parkhead, as they are in a group alongside Real Madrid, RB Leipzig and Shakhtar Donetsk.
