Celtic academy product lighting up Liverpool as he hits goal trail in bid to make the Anfield grade

Ben Doak is catching the eye at Liverpool following his big move to the English Premier League side from Celtic.

The attacker made his debut against after coming through the Parkhead club's academy ranks, making two appearances last term, one of which in a successful derby win over Rangers. He opted to move when Liverpool came calling and is now looking to break through into the senior ranks at a side managed by Jurgen Klopp.

Primarily a right winger, Doak scored a third goal in his first two competitive games as the young Reds were beaten 2-1 in their U18 Premier League North clash at Thorp Arch training ground on Saturday afternoon against Leeds United.

It cost his new club £600k to sign him and he is showing early doors why they forked out for someone who only turned 16 last last year. The teenager is also capped by Scotland at youth level.

Doak started his career at local clubs Dalry Rovers and Ayr United in Ayrshire before moving into the Hoops academy system.

Chances at senior level - either on the pitch or as part of squads - were starting to appear at Celtic but the lure of Premier League football was too much.

Ange Postecoglou's side have started their Premiership title defence in strong fashion this season and their next match is against Hearts.
