Celine Dion And Lady Gaga To Perform At 2024 Olympics

Celine Dion is performing

The 2024 Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony is set to make history by taking place on the Seine River instead of a traditional stadium. Céline Dion, who has been diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome, will be performing for the first time since December 2022. Joining her on stage will be the iconic Lady Gaga.

Rumors of their involvement began circulating after the two artists were seen in Paris ahead of the Summer Games. Social media videos captured Lady Gaga waving to fans from her car, while reports confirmed Céline Dion's arrival at the Royal Monceau Hotel near the Champs-Élysées, where Gaga is also staying.

French journalist Thierry Moreau revealed that the duo rehearsed a duet of “La Vie en Rose” by Édith Piaf, a classic French ballad that has been covered by various artists over the years. Gaga herself performed the song in the 2018 film 'A Star Is Born,' a role that earned her multiple prestigious awards.

For Céline Dion, this performance holds special significance as it marks her return to the stage following her diagnosis of stiff-person syndrome. The condition affects her ability to sing due to muscle stiffness and spasms, as showcased in her Prime Video documentary, 'I Am: Celine Dion.'

In a statement, Dion expressed her desire to raise awareness about the condition and continue her performing career. She shared her excitement about returning to Paris, a city she loves dearly, and expressed gratitude for the beauty and joy it brings.

The 2024 Olympics Opening Ceremony will be broadcast on NBC at 1:30 p.m. ET, with a primetime re-airing at 7:30 p.m. ET. Fans can look forward to witnessing this historic moment as two musical legends come together on stage in a celebration of music and resilience.
