Celebs mark Mother's Day as families forced apart as coronavirus cases soar

Many of us had to show our love for our wonderful mums from a distance yesterday, and the rich and famous were no different.

Celebrities marked Mother’s Day with touching tributes, as people across the UK cancelled celebratory lunches amid the coronavirus crisis.

Victoria Beckham, 45, urged people to be “kind and resilient” on a Mother’s Day “like no other”.

The fashion designer posted a picture of her with her mum, Jackie Adams. She wrote on Instagram : “So many of us won’t be able to see our mums today.

"Most of us will be sending them virtual love and gratitude, while thinking especially of the families with those on the frontlines.”

Model Abbey Clancy, 34, posted a snap of her opening presents in bed with her four children, sending “best wishes to all the wonderful mums out there”.

TV host Rochelle Humes, 31, described her mother, Roz Wiseman , as “one of a kind”.

Actress Kym Marsh, 43, said she was “so lucky to have” her mum, Pauline. Fitness guru Kate Ferdinand, 28, wife of football star Rio, 41, uploaded a snap of mum, Jacqueline.

And Beatles legend Paul McCartney, 77, posted a photo of himself as a boy with his mother, Mary.

Baker Nadiya Hussain, 35, said she was “so damn proud” of her mother, Asma Begum, who cleans hospital sheets to “keep our country going”.

Reality TV star Gemma Collins, 39, paid tribute to mum, Joan. Loose Women star Stacey Solomon, 30, posted a snap with one of her sons.
