Helen Flanagan became emotional as she opened up about her relationship with David Haye on Celebs Go Dating.
The 34-year-old former Coronation Street star - who split from fiancé and father of her three children Scott Sinclair in 2022 - first met retired boxer Haye when they appeared on I’m A Celebrity together in 2012.
Haye is in an open relationship with model Sian Osbourne and started dating Flanagan last year, but Flanagan struggled with not being the only woman.
Speaking to Anna Williamson and Dr Tara Suwinyattichaiporn on the E4 dating show where celebrities are set up on dates with ordinary people, Flanagan broke down in tears as she admitted she was in love with Haye.
She explained: “I'd known him for 10 years. We did a reality show together. I remember the first time, seeing him in the jungle, I was like 'wow.' It was quite something – it's really hard for me to talk about [now].
“He had a girlfriend and an open relationship. I didn't mean to fall in love with him, but I did. We did have this amazing connection together – we were like fire.
“It was weird – I think he does love his girlfriend and he loves me as well. It just brings me to a part in my life that was quite dark.”
When Williamson questioned her on the “throuple” aspect, Flanagan was quick to deny it, saying: “No [it wasn't]. I was in love with him. I wouldn't have enjoyed watching the man I was in love with have sex with another woman, that's not for me.
“I had communication with his girlfriend, but I felt very guilty. I didn't feel nice about it all. It really upsets me because I don't mean to hurt other people but I was just really lonely.
“I found it really difficult because it just happened. It's not nice on another girl and I should've known better.”
Prior to Flanagan, Haye and Welby were said to be in a “throuple” with The Saturdays singer Una Healy.
Healy also denied being in a three-way relationship and said she had been “trolled to death” after images surfaced of the trio on holiday in Morocco at the beginning of 2023, and has now claimed she was only in a casual relationship with Haye and “wasn’t romantic” with Osborne.
