For many, Christmas and the period leading up to New Year is full of food, joy and spending more time with your loved ones.
But for those who don't have a significant person in their lives, it can feel particularly lonely during the festive period.
For this reason, life coach and dating expert Anna Williamson has her busiest time of year in January.
For Anna, who also runs online coaching platform The Relationship Place, her diary is brimming with people looking for a 'new year, new me' fresh start. So if you're starting to feel like 2023 could be your year, it could be your time to shine, as Anna has shared her top tips for landing a new love match.
Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, Anna, who is currently appearing on E4's Celebs Go Dating, has revealed what she thinks is the key to dating.
She said: "My main piece of advice about relationships and dating is to get your mindset in the right, positive space."
"Forget all your annoyances, grievances and hang-ups you might have about your past relationships. Make peace with it," said Anna.
She continued: "Give yourself permission to move forwards positively.
"Dating and relationships are all about having the right mindset.
"If you go in with the right 'can do' attitude, you’re far more likely to be successful."
Anna says that if you go into the New Year with negative vibes, you're going to get something negative back.
She continued: "It's all about creating that positive mindset and really action that. Actions do speak louder than words.
"Sitting there and waiting for the man or woman of your dreams to come to you is very unlikely that will happen."
Instead, Anna recommends putting yourself out there physically or on dating apps.
She continued: "Whatever floats your boat. Finding situations and activities, putting yourself in situations where you're meeting likeminded people. That is going to put you in the best possible place to meet someone. Mindset is everything."
Although Anna is a big fan of dating apps, she does think it helps to be "very specific" about the ones you join.
She explained: "For me, I think it's about being intentional and about picking the one with the right audience that suits your likes and dislikes.
"It's about looking for the right dating app that suits your pursuits and values."
If dating apps aren't your thing, Anna recommends finding a hobby or activity and join a group to meet someone who interests you.
She added: "You never know. You might meet someone who is also single and you might catch their eye."
Speaking about how dating may change next year, Anna mentioned that the cost of living crisis will no doubt have an impact.
The expert explained: "I think next year the cost of living crisis is going to play a huge part in how we date.
"The average amount we spend on a date in the UK is around £126, which is an extortionate amount of money.
"So I anticipate that dating in 2023 will be done in a much more cost effective way."
That means there might not be as much pressure to go on expensive meals and drinks, which Anna really encourages, because it's all about finding "that connection".
