From Dublin celebrities like Phil Lynott to huge international stars like Ariana Grande and Lindsay Lohan, you might be surprised to find how their names actually should be said.

Phil Lynott

Contrary to popular belief, Phil's last name is pronounced 'Lie-not' rather than 'Lin-Not'.

It is said that Phil often corrected people for mispronouncing his name.

Ariana Grande

Most people say the pop star's last name as 'Grand-Day' but it turns out it's actually pronounced as 'Grand-Dee'.

The singer revealed that this is how she was taught to pronounce it growing up.

Zendaya

One would assume that Zendaya's name might be pronounced 'Zen-Dye-Ah', as it is spelled. Rather, it is pronounced 'Zen-Day-Uh'.

The Euphoria actress revealed in a YouTube video that her name is commonly mispronounced.

Lindsay Lohan

This is one that Irish people have probably been pronouncing correctly, whilt other countries have probably been saying it wrong.

Linday's surname is pronounced 'Lo-Wen' as opposed to 'Lo-Han'.

Jake's surname is one of the most surprising on the list, pronounced 'Yee-Len-Hey-Lo'.

The Hollywood actor is of Swedish decent and told TV host Conan O'Brien the correct pronunciation of his name.

Timothée Chalamet

Given the Dune star's French decent, this one can be difficult for those who don't speak the language.

It turn's out Timothée's first and last name is pronounced 'Timo-Tay Shala-May', rather than Timothy.

Amanda Seyfried

Amanda's last name is often pronounced 'Say-Fried' but the Mamma Mia star confirmed that it is in fact 'Sigh-Frid'.

Again, this is one that perhaps English people pronounce incorrectly as 'Dock-Erty' or 'Dog-Erty', but us Irish know well that it's 'Daw-Herty'.

With the O in the last name, one would assume it's pronounced 'Ther-On'. But alas, it's actually 'There-In'.

Chrissy Teigen

It's actually vert rare that you would hear someone pronounce this surname correctly as we mostly hear 'Tee-Gen'. But it's actually pronounced 'Tie-Ghen' as the model explained.
