Celebrity Mastermind accused of changing the rules for Strictly's Janette Manrara

Quiz shows put plenty of pressure on contestants especially if you're playing for a charity, as the latest addition of BBC's Celebrity Mastermind proved.

And alongside all that pressure, viewers are scrutinising every answer and rule.

But in the episode screened on Saturday, February 19, it was host Clive Myrie, who came under fire as he was accused of breaking the rules for Strictly Come Dancing's Janette Manrara.

The professional dancer was appearing on the charity edition of the show alongside comedian Nish Kuma, Saturday Kitchen's wine expert Olly Smit and Eastender's legend John Altman, aka Nasty Nick.

As she was quizzed viewers were convinced the show had changed its rules after quiz master Clive allowed her second answer to a question, reported Birmingham Live.

She was asked: "Wagyu is a Japanese breed of farm animal reared for its highly prized meat which has a marble texture...what type of meat is it?"

But Janette at first replied: "Wagyu?" before a few seconds later exclaiming: "Oh beef!"

Her answer was accepted, giving her 12 points in the general knowledge round.

Viewers at home were quick to call out the apparent foul play on social media.

One viewer wrote: "You should have taken that as her first answer! #celebritymastermind."

Another said: "So now they can keep guessing until they get it right?!#celebritymastermind."

And a third added: "I thought it's the first answer given that counts? #ragout #beef #CelebrityMastermind #Mastermind."

Janette said appearing on the show was worse than the Strictly final when it comes to nerves.

"At least on Strictly, I know what I'm doing."
