In 17 series of Celebrity MasterChef, there has never been a Dinner Party Dish quite like it.
Former World Champion boxer Chris Eubank, sharply dressed in his ever-present tweed suit under his apron, boasts “nothing touches” his favourite family staple – involving some tinned corned beef.
“I don’t think Chris has done a lot of cooking in his life,” muse judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace as Chris gets cracking in the kitchen during tonight's episode, when he is up against All Saints singer Mel Blatt, reality star Queen Mojo, EastEnders actor Cliff Parisi and choirmaster Gareth Malone.
Surprisingly, it isn’t the first time corned beef has been used as part of a celebrity’s dish.
Comic Vic Reeves topped a “poncey” corned beef hash with a poached egg, and served it with parsnip soup and beetroot in 2017 – and sailed through to the quarter-finals. Chris considers his deliberately un-poncey corned beef meal a “rich man’s dish”.
He says it “demonstrates love” and “magic” that remind him of his mum’s food. He also demonstrates a pretty unique way to serve a butternut squash.

Sir Rod Stewart
Sir Rod Stewart was on hand to help wife Penny Lancaster have a home birth with their second son Aiden – although she might have rather he had busied himself elsewhere.
As the moment grew close, the model told Rod she was ready to get in their birthing pool.
“Rod was apparently going through his drawers and yelling: ‘Which trunks am I going to wear?’” revealed Penny’s pal Gloria Hunniford on Loose Women yesterday.
Presumably, he wore them well, at any rate.
Rylan Clark
Rylan Clark played host to an unwelcome visitor in his Essex home over the weekend, and his reaction was only marginally less dramatic than when Nicole Scherzinger told him he’d got through the Judges’ Houses segment on the X Factor.
“I think I’m gonna die,” he told social media followers. “Can someone call the police? You just don’t need this on a hangover... If I’m not here tomorrow, thanks, Jesus, for everything.”
Thankfully, snake experts were on hand to give him some advice, and answer his increasingly erratic questions, which included, “Do I put
it in an envelope?”, and, “Can they climb stairs?”.
And the rest of us were just entertained.
