Celebrity MasterChef has been slammed after Thursday night's episode focussed on the Queen's Jubilee back in the summer.
Many viewers questioned the timing of the episode, which was filmed before the death of Queen Elizabeth II last week, labelling it "insensitive".
A double bill of the cookery programme aired between 8.30pm and 10pm, with the first episode seeing the contestants tasked with creating a dish to celebrate the Monarch's Platinum Jubilee.
Judge Greg Wallace told the seven famous faces: "This year saw the Royal Jubilee of her Majesty the Queen, what we would like is a dish dedicated to the Jubilee, dedicated to the Queen."
One viewer wrote on Twitter: "Feeling very awkward about The Queen being talked about as if she is here #Badtaste #CelebrityMasterChef."
Another said: I can see now why they decided to wait a week to put on this #celebritymasterchef semi final episode, what with all the “let’s celebrate the Queen’s jubilee” talk in the second part…"
A third person wrote: "A bit insensitive. #CelebrityMasterChef."
A fifth penned: "Er....baking for the Queen? Finding this a bit...awkward."
One fan of the show observed: "#bbc of all the things they have postponed showing and the recent almost blanket coverage of the Queen's death, they decided to show #celebritymasterchef for the jubilee celebrations!"
However some viewers defended the programme, arguing it was a tricky situation for the BBC.
One fan said: "Mentioned at the beginning this was filmed before the the Queen passed, probably couldn’t scrap it due to continuity. #CelebrityMasterChef."
Another argued the episode was a fitting tribute, saying: "Been waiting for this episode ft Mary berry can understand why it got delayed but it’s come at perfect time now to pay tribute to queen."
The episode, during which former Great British Bake Off star Mary Berry was a judge, saw Love Island's Faye Winter, ex footballer Jimmy Bullard, McFly's Danny Jones, Drag Queen Kitty Scott-Claus, actor Cliff Parisi, singer Mel Blatt and TV presenter Lisa Snowden battle to impress Mary as well regular judges Greg and John Torode.
The episodes came as the final was delayed due to the Queen's funeral on Monday.
The BBC One cooking show was set to air its three final episodes this week, but TV schedules changed at the last minute.
This was to make way for special programmes dedicated to the UK’s longest reigning monarch, who passed away aged 96.
The One Show paid tribute to the Queen during a special episode, Our Queen Remembered, which aired at 9pm on Tuesday – the same slot Celebrity Masterchef was supposed to have.
The final two episodes will now air Friday and Tuesday - when the winner will be crowned.
It’s not the first time Masterchef has been affected by a royal death – as in 2021 the final of the main series had to be postponed as it fell on the same day the Queen’s husband Prince Philip passed away on April 9.
