Celebrity Juice AXED by ITV after 14 years as Keith Lemon pays tribute to show

Keith Lemon has paid tribute to Celebrity Juice as it's been confirmed the show has been axed by ITV.

A statement from the comedy character shared to Twitter on Wednesday reads: "After 14 years, 26 series, 300 eps @CelebJuice is concluding later this year with two farewell specials.

"Thank you so so much to everyone who watched, to the team captains, guests, crew and itv2. It was the longest most fun party! I had a wonderful time. Big love x"

The statement was shared with a video showing the classic moments from the long-running show.

Fans immediately took to the comment section to say goodbye to the widely-loved show.

"I feel shame that Celebrity Juice is about to end. It really is the end of an era. Thank you for the millions of laughs you gave us for the last 14 years," one user said.

Another added: "I’m absolutely gutted this is ending. But what a great run it’s had, Will definitely miss that on Thursday nights after the final 2 specials that air."

The show first aired in 2008 (ITV)

One posted: "A bonkers but brilliant show, I've seen things on there I never thought I would! How the team came up with some of the ideas is beyond me. Thank you for the laughs. x"

Celebrity Juice first hit our screens in 2008 with Fearne Cotton and Holly Willoughby appearing as team captains.

The show was originally circled around the week's tabloid news stories and eventually involved to include insane games and challenges.

Paddy McGuinness took over Fearne's place after a long while before Mel B took his spot.

Two years ago, This Morning presenter Holly announced she was leaving the show after '12 years of fantastic chaos'.

She released a statement saying: "Thank you @celebjuiceofficial for 12 years of fantastic chaos... I can’t quite believe what we’ve done and how quick that time has gone. Thank you to you all for watching..we’ve always had the loudest and best audiences.

"Also a huge thank you to @itv2 for believing in the show in the first place and for all of your support...Over the years the production team has changed, however to anyone lucky enough to have worked on the show, they will know that we really do have the best time, it’s never felt like work and always been to me like a night out...

"Thank you for all your ingenious ideas and hard work... all good things must come to an end and nothing lasts forever... It’s time for me to hand over my team captain seat to some lucky lucky person... whoever that is, know you are about to get one of the best jobs in telly working with one of comedies finest... @keithlemon...

"Where to begin... I remember starting this journey with you and saying ‘I think this might work’... my goodness me it did... three friends, you me and @fearnecotton... and that is what is at the heart of it.. friendship... I love the bones of you Lemon! Thank you for making me laugh for twelve years...

"I’ll be back as a guest and just to make sure someone is keeping you in check... if I don’t see you through a week or next week or the week after... know you are always in my heart..."

Several months after she quit, Emily Atack and Laura Whitmore were announced as the new captains.

Emily said at the time: "Every time I’ve been on Juice in the past I’ve had such a good time, and now I’m doing it with two of my best mates and I’m a ruddy team captain!!!"

The final season, which aired its final episode on May 26, included celebrity guests Big Narstie, Rachel Riley, Joe Swash, Katherine Ryan, Aston Merrygold and more.
